Intern Introduction: Sarah Hisey

Hi all! My name is Sarah, and I will be the Fall intern here at Circles of Jackson County. With my Caribbean roots, I have spent most of my life in these mountains of WNC and have made it home with my two dogs, Athena and Atlas. As an immigrant, I have been set up with my own set of challenges in which I have overcame as well as still work on overcoming, especially when it comes to resources. I am a nontraditional student who has majored in Social Work with a minor focus on criminal justice. Within both fields of study, there has been a focus on diversity, social justice, mental health, and housing insecurity. I am passionate about people and showing them that they contribute to the rich tapestry of this community and they, in fact, have the potential to have fulfilled lives.
