IN THIS LESSON

What must Circle Leaders and Allies consider when it comes to finances? What are some common misconceptions about financial wellness? What should everyone know to succeed financially? Let’s discuss!

FINANCIAL LITERACY

Understanding finances doesn’t have to be a daunting task, and we require our Circle Leaders to learn about financial literacy in our program to benefit their lives.

So what is financial literacy? Financial literacy is the ability to understand finances to make good, sustainable decisions with your money. This includes budgeting, managing debt, building credit, planning for future investments, and more. When you become financially literate, you will set yourself up for a better future where accidents and emergencies can be cushioned or avoided entirely.

One example of financial literacy at Circles is our matched leader saving program. In this program, Circle Leaders are encouraged to allocate as much money into their savings within three months after completing their training as possible. Circles will then match the amount saved and return this to Circle Leaders to support their financial independence.

BUDGETING

One of the most important parts of financial literacy is budgeting. Budgeting is when you track your income and expenses to make sure your money goes to the right places to benefit your needs. Budgeting is more complicated than you may believe, but budgeting is a smart, realistic solution to resolve debt and fund your wants and needs.
