Engaging with Community Partners
Community partners and fellow nonprofits solve many of the everyday issues in the lives of Jackson County residents. Food insecurity, transportation, affordable housing, healthcare and job opportunities are only some of the factors that contribute to locals who face poverty.
Poverty includes more than just a lack of funds, but also a lack of time, physical and mental health, and positivity. Overcoming poverty takes a multifaceted approach that only a community of resources can provide, and we are proud to have partners throughout the Western North Carolina area who help build a support network for our Circle Leaders and other residents alike.
Circles has many partners in the area that we can refer our clients to for specific services that we ourselves cannot handle alone. These include:
Blue Ridge Health for healthcare access and options
Center for Domestic Peace for sexual assault and domestic violence
Community Table for food insecurity
Cornbread and Roses for LGBTQ+ safety and food insecurity
Friends of Panthertown for sustainable recreation and environment conservation
Jackson County DSS for social services and government assistance
WestBridge Vocational for professional opportunities
WNC Farm to Table for understanding agricultural policies and practices
Circles of Jackson County appreciates all the work we have accomplished over the years to connect our Leaders to these resources when necessary. Our Tuesday night meetings are another opportunity to bring awareness to local resources, where representatives come and discuss their organization’s contributions and influence to the area.
Our Poverty Simulation will provide community leaders and locals the chance to understand life in poverty. RSVP to get involved with this upcoming event and share with others in your circle.
