Intern Introduction: Felicia Calcaterra
Hey everyone! My name is Felicia Calcaterra, and I’m so excited to be joining Circles of Jackson County as the Spring 2025 intern. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn alongside such a passionate, community-focused organization. I’m currently a senior at Western Carolina University majoring in Parks and Recreation Management with a minor in Psychology. I’m passionate about mental health, holistic healing, and creating supportive spaces for individuals and families in our community.
I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, before moving to Lake Arrowhead, California, and eventually settling in North Carolina four years ago. My long-term goal is to become a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and open my own practice, where I hope to integrate ecotherapy and mindfulness-based practices into treatment plans.
My journey toward a career in mental health has been shaped by my love for the outdoors, mindfulness, and the belief that healing happens best when we feel connected—to ourselves, to others, and to the natural world. I’m especially drawn to working with those navigating depression, addiction, and trauma, and hope to provide support that’s rooted in both compassion and connection.
When I’m not studying or working, you can usually find me exploring a new trail, reading a good book, painting, or playing guitar. I love finding creative outlets that help me recharge and stay grounded, and I’m always looking for new ways to combine those passions with the work I do.
I’m looking forward to connecting with and supporting the community through this role—thank you for welcoming me!
